Secure Messaging - Central Referral Hub

10 July 2024

Metro South Health, Central Referral Hub, Transitions to Secure Web Transfer for outgoing revised referral requests from 17/07/2024

•    Revised Referral Required letters will be addressed as Confidential Communication – ACTION REQUIRED, with results and essential information requested in the body of the letter.
•    The change will affect referrers who send referrals via fax or STS to the Central Referral Hub, communication will be returned electronically rather than fax or post.
•    To ensure your GPs receive important clinical information electronically from the Central Referral Hub, regarding patient referrals, and clinical handover from hospital facilities it is important that your practice update your STS address book details (STS - Secure Transfer Services) every time there is a change to providers at the clinic.
•    The preferred method to send referrals to Metro South is by GP Smart Referrals. General Practitioners who send patient referrals through the Smart Referrals system automatically receive acknowledgment and communication directly into their practice management software.

Please contact the GP Liaison Officer Program on 1300 364 155 (option 2) or email GPLO_Programs2@health.qld.gov.au, who can assist.
